Imagine holding your vintage train-themed wedding reception on a restored former 1920s restaurant car, a luxury Pullman style dining carriage or a private steam train. Sounds fabulous doesn’t it?
East Lancashire Railway has all of these venues and more – including the Bury Transport Museum – and this weekend is the perfect time to check them all out. As a special anniversary offer – it’s been 10 years since ELR reopened Heywood Station and the four-mile Bury to Heywood line – all tickets on this heritage railway line from Heywood Station are just £10.
The £10 tickets also give you free entry into the Bury Transport Museum, where there are all kinds of vintage events happening. On Saturday 7 September there’s a Transport Collectors’ & Modellers’ Fair and Vintage Bus Gathering, while on Sunday 8 September there’s the hugely popular Vintage Transport Gathering.
It’s the perfect time to get down there and pick up some inspiration for your vintage railway-themed wedding.
